We are proud to feature this aromatic single origin, which has been sourced from six farms, collectively known as Granja La Esperanza in Colombia.
The Farms
Within the El Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca departments of Colombia's West lies the Granja La Esperanza, a group of 6 farms dedicated to growing some of Colombia's most exceptional coffee. Over the decades, improvements within Granja La Esperanza have culminated into a reputation for boundary pushing coffee growing.
The Brothers
Brothers, Rigoberto and Luis Eduardo Herrera, and their teams are responsible for this reputation. The brothers originally left Colombia in pursuit of engineering studies, but they later returned with the aim of restoring and improving their grandfathers farms. Since their return the brothers have shifted the farms focus towards pushing the boundaries of Colombian coffee, by using innovative processes and unique varieties of coffee plants.
The Process
Granja La Esperanza's product is not only a result of the regions abundant environmental resources but also the rigorous standards woven into the farms production process. From start to finish there are 95 quality assurance checkpoints, ranging from pickers being paid a day rate instead of by weight, all the way to methods introduced from winemaking to accurately control fermentation. All together, these procedures result in a shinning example of Colombia's finest coffee.
Featuring tasting vibrant notes of Maraschino, Amaretto and Dark Chocolate, this microlot shines as a pour over without milk.
