The Region
Grown in the volcanic highlands of Santa Rosa, Guatemala, Finca El Durazno benefits from rich clay loam soils and elevations between 1600–1850 metres above sea level, which are ideal conditions for producing exceptional specialty coffee. This region is celebrated for its long-standing coffee heritage, where altitude, climate, and fertile land combine to deliver cups with clarity, structure, and vibrant acidity.
The Process
This lot has been crafted using a natural anaerobic process, a method that pushes the boundaries of traditional Guatemalan coffee. By fermenting the whole cherry in a controlled, oxygen-limited environment before drying, the producers unlock bold, expressive flavours.
The Collective
Finca El Durazno is part of a collective of 20 dedicated producers, led by the Castillo family - coffee growers with a legacy dating back to 1893. Now under the leadership of Emanuel Castillo, the group operates through the Cosechando Esperanza (Harvesting Hope) program, supporting smallholder farmers with sustainable practices, education, and long-term resilience.
This initiative goes beyond coffee - investing in environmental responsibility, financial literacy, and community development—ensuring each harvest not only produces outstanding coffee, but also creates lasting impact for the families behind it.
This coffee results in a complex and boozy cup profile, with tasting notes French Earl Grey, White Grape, and Star Anise. It features a balanced acidity and a smooth body, finishing with lingering sweetness. If you love filter coffee, be sure to try this!
