This delicious Guatemalan micro-lot comes direct from Don Francisco Martinez, a 75-year-old coffee producer, and one of 240 members of the Esquipulas cooperative in the municipality of La Libertad.
Martinez has farmed speciality coffee on his Huehuetenango plot of land for more than 55 years. Altitude, varietals and informed agricultural practices have made it possible for him to produce high quality coffee consistently. He serves as a role model for the local coffee farming community, who look to earn a better income and better quality of life for their families.
All members of the Esquipulas cooperative have access to a health care centre and pharmacy on location. They also fund to employ year round agronomists who monitor the coffee fields of the members, providing assistance and feedback when needed.
