This velvety and sweet coffee has been sourced from the region of Nayarita in Mexico.
Coffee first came to this region in the 1860s when a group of French families set up the first plantations in Malinal, and today there are still a couple of trees standing which date back more than 100 years. By the late 1980s cooperatives had formed with members who were each farming approximately 300 hectares of land. Currently there are 260 producers with an average of 2-3 hectares per family.
Growing altitudes in the region vary from 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level, with more than 50 percent of all the Malinal coffee grown at altitudes above 1,100 meters. The majority of coffee produced in the region consists of Typica, Caturra and Bourbon varieties.
This coffee presents tasting notes of strawberry, toasted almond and milk chocolate and is a great choice for those who are looking for a delicious coffee to pair with milk.
