This coffee has been sourced through Cooperative Rio Azul and comes from Jacaltenango, a town and municipality located within the Huehuetenango department of Guatemala. This coffee is not just a beverage; it's a testament to generations of dedication, skill, and community spirit.
This coffee is the pride of Cooperative Rio Azul, a tight-knit community of 186 members established in 1967. Beyond crafting exceptional coffee, Cooperative Rio Azul believes in giving back. The cooperative actively engages in social development projects within the wider community.
One of their initiatives involves an alternative income project centered around beekeeping, fostering pollination and yielding high-quality honey. With 28 farmers actively participating, each managing 10 boxes, the coop produces nearly 6,000 kilograms of honey annually, showcasing their commitment to sustainable practices and community welfare.
Grown at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 2,000 meters, this coffee carries the prestigious SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) classification, denoting its exceptional quality cultivated at these lofty heights. The beans undergo a rigorous fully washed method and are sun-dried to perfection, ensuring every cup delivers an unmatched taste experience.
With tasting notes of orange peel, milk chocolate & toasted chestnut, this coffee shines when brewed using a French Press, and also makes for a delicious espresso to both with or without milk.
